5 Hacks for a Productive Morning

I’ve been off of work for a couple of weeks. I’ve been off of work for a couple of weeks. Today will be my first day at a completely new job with exciting opportunities to grow. Even though I’ve had a nice long and much needed break, I’m ready to get back in the game!

While I was on my break, I was blessed enough to be able to just rest. I took naps often, walked throughout my neighborhood, read, cried, studied, and traveled (look out for my Arizona recap post, this Thursday). Now that I’m back to the 9-5 grind, I realize that I need to streamline my mornings to get the most out of my workday.

Need a better start to your morning? Try my 5 hacks for a productive morning, below:

Wake up earlier— I’m aiming to wake up at 6:00am to give myself a head start. By waking up earlier, I’ll be able to write my to-do list for the day, eat a healthy breakfast, and have enough time to get in the office beforehand.

Workout—I’m not really a gym person, but I do love powerwalking/jogging Lake Merritt! However, I need to do a better job at consistently working out. After work, I find myself being tired and unmotivated to sweat. So, as a solution, I’m going to switch out my exercise hour to the morning. (Let’s see how this goes…pray for me!)

Eat breakfast—To cut my spending at Starbucks in half, I’ve gotten in the habit of preparing breakfast at my apartment. If I’m super hungry, I’ll eat a couple slices of bacon with eggs and a bagel or I’ll simply have a blueberry muffin with coffee. Nonetheless, it’s important to your day off right with a satisified stomach.

Stretch—With my background deeply rooted in dance (modern/ballet), I find that it’s important to stretch my limbs, take a few deep breaths and get grounded before the day begins.

Don’t look at your email— or your social media accounts, but TBH that’s pretty hard for me to do. I try my best to not look at my email until I step foot into the office, so I won’t become overwhelmed with the amount of things that I need to execute throughout the day. Try it, and see how less stressed you become.
