5 Beauty Products To Keep Your Melanin Moisturized During Winter

This month we are excited to provide 5 beauty products to keep your melanin skin intact and moisturized during December! Sorority sister, D. Genell is here to give you allll the tips for keeping your skin right!

Hey, y'all! Can you believe the holiday months are already upon us? If you're like me, I am always super excited when the holiday months come around because the temperature changes, people are in a cheerful mood and it's just an all-around amazing time to feel cozy. With all the good does come some of the bad, which is the harsh winter weather! However, I am here to make sure you keep that beautiful melanin moisturized all winter long. Listed below are my 5 favorite skin care products I use for those tough but special winter weather months.

Β

1.  African Black Soap Dandruff Control Hair Masque by SheaMoisture Scalp/Hair

Β

As soon as the weather switches from warm to cold, I immediately feel it with my scalp first. Some of us, myself included, forget that the scalp is an important part of our skin and we should treat it with just as much, if not more, care than we do the rest of our body. That’s why I am excited to tell you about this amazing natural hair masque that I specifically use for those harsh winter months. The african black soap dandruff control hair masque by SheaMoisture is my go-to masque for alleviating build-up and dandruff.

2. Santa Baby Lip Scrub by LUSH Cosmetics

Β

Β

Pucker up, baby! This lip scrub is an essential for the cold winter months. What I love most about the scrub is that it works as an to wipe away harsh peeling to leave lips soft and smooth. An added bonus to this lip scrub is that it has a cola-like flavor to it. Perfect for the #Mistletoe ladies. *insert kissy face

3.   Fresh-Brown Sugar Body Scrub

Β

Β

A spa-like experience right at home is what this natural, exfoliator feels like. I like this particular product because it’s good on all skin types and is sulfate, parabens, phthalates free! With the small brown sugar crystals and the primrose, sweet almond, apricot kernel, and jojoba oils, you are not only brushing away dull, dry skin but, leaves your body smelling so delicious.

4.   Nuxe Dry Oil

Β

I discovered this life changing dry oil from a very important beauty source, Sir John (make-up artist for Beyonce). He posted this multi-purpose oil on his instagram some time last year and I ran to Target to purchase it. I initially got the oil just for my skin because I find that body oil during the cold months keeps my skin more moisturize than actual lotions but, this oil can be used literally every where. I’ve used it both on my face, hair and body. What I love most about this product is that although it’s an oil it doesn’t leave any residue behind. Oh, plus the smell, = YAS!

5. Humidifier

I know it’s technically NOT a skin care product. However, it is one of the best methods to help protect your skin away from dull, dry air. A humidifier has been tested and proved to help skin stay fresh. You can even get a cute-colored one to match your room dΓ©cor. Chic!
